Recaş Winery near Timişoara

Today’s post is written by my husband, an Irish man, who visited Romania for the first time in 2013. We’ll keep on posting stories from our journey and we hope you enjoy them! So, here goes:

It isn’t difficult to find places to visit in Romania, especially when you have a native looking after you (lucky me!). So, when my father-in-law asked me if I wanted to go and get some nice wine, I said yes with no hesitation.

The place he took me was close to Timişoara (Timishoara), my wife’s hometown. This place is a little city, called Recaş (Recash) and it’s about 20 km away from the noise and craziness of the big city.

Recaş

The view takes your breath away and the wine takes your sorrows away! 🙂

It’s a great place to spend a day with family and friends, and the winery owners came up with some visiting and tasting categories which can actually satisfy all needs and requests. There are also a lot of legends and traditions about how this place was created, and most of them are stories from ancient times, I am not going to spoil them for you now… you have to discover them yourself!

You can try their tasty wine and also have a great meal to go with it. It is really quiet, relaxing and it’s definitely on my “visit again soon” list.

A tip: make sure you eat something before you go there, because they will literally make you taste their wine as soon as you arrive on their premises… I would know, I got there at 10.00 a.m. 🙂
